Higher quality video and more screens

So, I uploaded a last batch of screens from the scene, and uploaded the video to Vimeo aswell, since its wayy higher quality there, and with these dark muddy visuals youtube just murders the quality. Next post will be the breakdown of the project, I promise ^^

Finished Baroque Environment

So, long time no post! Here is the final version of the baroque scene, a ton of things I wish i had done differently or just avoided in general, but I'm pretty happ with the result, and to be done with it, phew. Here are some random shots and a video. Next up is doing a workflow and technical breakdown of the entire project :)

Outdoors and more polish

I have been going through some textures, polishing them and adding some detail normals here and there indoors, aswell as working on the facade . Got the basic wallshader running aswell as adding some quick windowframes etc. Need to do a shader/texturepass on them aswell as adding proper windows, and a better texture for the walls. Planning on filling the fountain with murky water, aswell as giving the rocksurfaces a better shader with some moss blending etc.

Making real Ivy to cover the base layer I put there with the shader. I put a solid baselayer of ivy under the real ivy, so I can get away with having less ivy added to the scene and still having a sense of depth to it. Have to sort out the foliage at some point ^^ Still lots of very temporary unpolished geometry outdoors, like the facade, and all the placeholder trees ^^

Curtains and floorshader

Updated the floorshader a bit so I have the option to tear it up a bit and expose the wood underneath with vertexpainting, also finished the curtains for the hallways aswell, a long time coming ^^

Scene polish and basic fountain

Tweaking the lighting a bit, making it a bit brighter aswell as trying to get the kind of shadows that i want. Also turned off the colorgrading because it was temporary and pretty bad anyway. Doing small tweaks here and there in general, working on the overall scene, need to do something about the floor aswell, way to clean and untouched right now. Also finished the fountain for the garden background.

Streaming & Robot

Started working on a baroque fountain, and then doodled a bit on this old robot I had lying around and wanted to finish : )

Polish polish polish!

A whole bunch of pics! Made some new books that are open aswell, for variation, aswell as putting a quick texture on the fireplace and making some burned out logs to put in the fireplace. Blocked out the facade and a placeholder overgrown fountain aswell. Added a small library-room aswell, just so its not an empty hole there : ) Doing small fixes here and there, polishing things up :)

Fireplace WIP

Mini-update with a lowpoly with temporary textures from the modelviewer in UDK. Not quite happy with this one but it'll have to do, was thinking of going more ornamental but it would probably look out of place since the rest of the room is actually quite plain. Atleast it baked down pretty decently. (for once modo produced good normals without any trix)

Built a fireplace and a firepoker and random accessories for the fireplace. Have to build the lowpoly and get in there and then start finishing things off and getting the last big pieces in there that are still missing. Almoooost finished now.

Polishing and polishing

Added another room to the corridor, didnt want the scene to have such an obvious and abrupt end, so... no extra work to add it really, just thought it added a bit to the scene : ) No time to work on props really, so really taking time to finish this. Will do another push soon and wrap it up. Then its time to wrap up that old scifi city instead ^^

Lensflares n stuff

Been really busy lately with other stuff so haven't had time to work so much on this. Added some broken glass on the floor, fixed some boring things like the next rooms being empty etc... Added some FX for cameradirt etc (yupp, just like in last of us ^^) Love that effect they put on the windows indoors.

Shaders and candeliers

Did another pass on the shaders and turned on the DX11 reflections and stuff, aswell as adding wind animation in the cloth and hanging wallpaper. Added another candelier for the walls, soon running out of placeholders to replace, getting there slowly ^^ Next piece is the fireplace :)

Candelier lowpoly/bakes

Alrighty, finished the candelier and baked it out. Its more expensive than I was going for, but I dont care that much about pushing the polycount down, its low for what shapes it captures atleast, but to pull it down further I would have to simplify the design, and that is not the purpose of this scene :) On to the next prop!

Candelier highpoly

Just wrapped up this highpoly for my candelier for the baroque scene. All those flowers! It did turn out a bit elaborate... and it wont realyl be visible, but I couldnt help myself. (and yes those candles are placeholders, will just reuse the candles from the other candelier :) ) Getting really tired of this kitbash-set now, I can tell you that ^^

Also decided that the first Modo tutorial I will write will probably be about how I set up my scenes for baking, because its quick and easy ^^

Baroque roof!

Made the lowpoly or the ceiling and baked it out, still not quite sure how to make the shader for it, want to get some good mould and flaking it. Also need to make proper holes in it, I'll probably end up with some vertexpainted cracks or something ^^

Lazy sunday

Lazy sunday today ^^ Made a highpoly roof for the main room, starting to feel baroque-fatigue a bit now, inspiration running a bit low and I cant wait to tie this together properly. Would probably be more inspired if I changed the scope a bit and made it bigger, but then I would have to invest more time into it... evil circle. The more stuff I build, the less I want to make tiny showcases/assets, and just focus on worldbuilding.

Ahwell, only one huge asset left, and thats the fireplace :) Should do an optimisation-pass on the scene aswell, just for the fun of it.

Baroque walkabout!

Made a small video of walking around the environment a bit, it's a bit more atmospheric than just still pictures :) Still plenty of placeholders to fix, like the ceiling, candelier, fireplace, windows, curtains... yeah, I got work to do ^^

Various small props and grass!

Adding a little bit of everything now, made some quick grass for the outside, made new windowframes and better placeholder windows that animate, some candleholders aswell ^^ Should stop fiddling around with the small stuff and finish the last two really big assets, the main ceiling and the fireplace.
