Random speedmodels

No updates here for awhile, didnt make any special progress that is worth showing on my character/vehicle, but the lowpolys are almost done, so sooon... meanwhile here are some quick speedmodels I have been bashing together lately : )

Gloves & armor

I am slooowly trying to get back into character art, so now I am fiddling around with zbrush a bit, delaying the inevitable clothes and face for the character. Done some work here and there on the armor, aswell as making his gloves, which was fun.

Character update

Have been working some more on my character, almost done with his headgear, and started working on the gear for his suit aswell. Just basic modo sub-d stuff. Also been working a tiny bit on my render materials, still a bunch of things I want to fix with them, but they are starting to look pretty sweet now, imho. Leather works fine, but there is some more custom stuff I want to add to the metal. Its all shaderstuff, no custom textures.

Character mockup

Started mocking up my driver for the vehicle a bit, very rough at the moment. The idea is that he is dressed in some exo-skeleton ish suit wich relieves his joints at..high Gs or something :D (so i can add lots of mechanical parts!) And then wearing some kind of leather jacket+ baggy pants :)

Highpoly update +100k visitors!

Did some more work on the underside and steering area of the vehicle, and general decal/material/detail pass. Very few areas left untouched now, so its getting there! Need to do a pass and make some more fitting decalwork for this vehicle, and separate it into more materials. Also passed 100 000 visitors to the blog today, crazy stuff! :D

Trying out some different colors for the vehicle, was a bit tired of the blue so I tried giving it a bit more sandy red look. Doodling around and adding details here and there :)

Random highpoly updates

Slowly iterating on things, slowly going forward, working on things here and there, still tons left to do on the highpoly. Phew. Started concepting and designing the pilot a bit aswell, but nothing to show as of yet.

Did some more work on the engine, just so many parts to fix... luckily enough I have vacation now, so I can model more, woo! Also made a crappy quality DOF-shot :)

More engines!

Did another quick pass on the engine, slowly getting there. I have some tricky areas left to design that I'm not sure how to handle, hopefully I'll figure something out. Experimented a bit more with materials on the highpoly, slowly building up a small library of materials.

Vehicle Engine

One hour speedmodel of the engine. If I keep this pace up maybe there is a theoretical chance that I finish it in time, heh. Built and rendered in Modo as always : )

Modo sculpting

Did some quick sculpting in Modo on the seat of the vehicle aswell as a general detail/designpass, trying to balance out the design a bit in the middle and back section. Looks a bit wonky with the landinggear down in front but not in the back... grind grind grind.

Highpoly update

Done some general work here and there on the model, still trying to figure out how to solve a couple of problematic areas that I'm not sure how to tackle. Making slow progress atleast, but need to pick up speed if I want to finish this damn thing :D

More meshfusion and scifi

Trying out some other colors on my hoverbike-thing! Did a first pass on the steering aswell, lots of meshfusion fun :) Starting to get the hang of it but still getting lots of errors with the geo and stuff breaking etc, a bit hard to troubleshoot compared to building the normal way, but its alot of fun to design with.

Speedmodelled a quick WIP of a machinegun for my.. scifi scooter thing! :) Needs another modelling and detailingpass and some sculpting (the whole thing is gonna be a bit worn a beat up) No meshfusion this time, except on the barrels :)

Vehicledoodle, part two!

Starting fleshing out more parts of the vehicle, iterating on the design a bit :) Giving it a bit of meshfusion love, still not feel like I'm getting good use out of it, and designing like this takes a bit of practice to be honest, its easy to get stuck in very simple patterns instead of using the full potential of the tool.

Polycount has a competition running (http://www.polycount.com/petrolblood/) and I couldnt help but to make a quick vehicle-doodle :) Preeetty sure I wont finish this, but needed a break from other stuff. More time would be fun! Placeholder dude from old project just sitting there chillin. Oh, and it has animated landing gear!

Realised the only highpoly renders I had of this mech were really, really horrible, so I made a couple of quick new ones. Just basic stuff, really need to start investigating better texturing/rendering for my highpoly models...

Wolfenstein: The New Order artdump part 2

Back with more wolfenstein-stuff! This time its more environmentassets, random props from here and there, didnt bother rendering everything, just picked stuff here and there. Some of these are also a bit spoilery, giving away some of the settings of the game. Not as sexy stuff as big mechs and guns, but the majority of time is spent doing this kind of stuff, so figured that I would post these aswell. In general all of these were built pretty fast, speed before polish, and didnt bother to sex any of them up before rendering, everything built in Modo, rendered in Modo, as always.

Designs are either by me or the awesome conceptteam at Machinegames.

Oh, and if you think making this kind of stuff is fun, Machinegames are currently looking for artists! :)
